๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm Ayah, an Experience Researcher & Medical Anthropologist

Iโ€™m a qualitative research nerd, and these are the main reasons why:

  • ๐ŸงCuriosity | Iโ€™ve followed my curiosity from footnotes to fieldwork in 4 different countries. One tracing: As a John Lewis Fellow in Atlanta, I became obsessed with reading about the black scholar and civil rights activist, W.E.B. Du Boisโ€™s and his family membersโ€™ residence in Egypt . A few months later, I was in Cairo standing outside that very building for a research project.

  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ People & their stories | At family gatherings, people jokingly ask me where my tape recorder is. Iโ€™ve worked up a reputation of turning dinner chitchat into follow-up interviews about their myriad migration stories.

  • ๐Ÿ’ญImagination | Iโ€™m constantly daydreaming about ways people can change tech and tech can change people. In my thinking, itโ€™s usually change for the better as a result of centering marginalized groups in research. I believe this with my whole heart: When we design for the margins, we design better for everyone.
